Safety Flooring

Craig Sargeant and the team at Sargeant Carpets Bognor Regis are safety flooring experts and have a wide range of products to choose from.  Our safety flooring can be used in both domestic and commercial settings, ideal for any location where slip resistance and safety are a top priority.

What is safety flooring?

Safety flooring is designed to prevent accidents and is recommended for commercial environments such as hospitals, schools, shops, factories and offices.   It is a vinyl flooring which is slip resistant and hardwearing, and also provides anti-bacterial features too.

The slip resistance of safety flooring is measured using ramp and/or pendulum tests.  For a ramp test, the floor is angled to test how steep it can be before someone will slip.  The pendulum test is where a swinging arm with a spring-loaded rubber ‘foot’ is swung across the floor to see what level of friction is required to reduce the momentum.

Our safety flooring ranges pass all the ramp and pendulum tests, giving you peace of mind that it offers the best slip resistance.

What are the benefits of safety flooring?

Our high-performance vinyl safety flooring is extremely durable and easy to clean and maintain.  Safety flooring comes in an extensive choice of designs and colours, including realistic wood and tile effects.   Vinyl flooring is also a cost-effective option, whilst delivering on quality and style.

Our preferred safety flooring is 2mm thick and includes a 0.7mm wear layer which is suitable for heavy commercial use.  It resists scuffs and stains and is ideal for kitchens, canteens, residential care and industrial settings as well as many others.

An added advantage of safety flooring is the anti-bacterial resistance, where mildew and other bacterial growth is inhibited.  It is also easy to clean and requires less detergents, delivering excellent environmental qualities too.  The vinyl safety flooring we use is manufactured in energy-efficient factories which conform to the highest European safety standards.

Our recommended safety flooring

We recommend the isafe range from Itec Contract Floors which achieves an R11 slip resistance rating (low) and a pendulum rating of 36+ which equates to a ‘low slip potential’.  The isafe 70 flooring features enhanced particles and a Hypergrip layer which further reduces the risk of falling.  As isafe comes in 2m and 4m widths, joins are minimised to offer a superior, hygienic finish.

You can read more about the isafe range here.
